Wine Bar Accessories

If you are a keen wine drinker, then you will perhaps have already looked at purchasing a number of wine accessories to fit out a wine bar in your home. These bars can be small enough to fit at the end of a kitchen range, or large enough to cross over a room. Depending upon your finances, you can purchase a range of automatic gadgets that will help you to get the most out of your bottles of wine, or you can stick to a few basic corkscrews and other accessories just to help you over the basics. Whatever type of wine bar you want, the right kind of accessories can really make a difference.

Basic wine bar accessories start with corkscrews and other kinds of wine openers. The simplest, and most effective, are known as Waiter’s corkscrews, and are designed to allow the user to simply lift the cork out of the bottle. This corkscrew will also fold away for easy storage. If you want something more complicated, or perhaps have trouble manipulating the standard corkscrew, then you might want to consider a lever-style, which can be pushed into the cork and then pushed down in order to life up the cork. Many wine fans use these kinds of opener in preference to standard corkscrews.

Once you have opened the bottle, you will need two other types of wine bar accessories in order to ensure that the wine reaches the glass in the best condition possible, and that any wine left over is preserved. The latter can be done with a wine vacuum pump, which is placed on the top of the bottle, and pumps out air, while also forming a tight seal around the open end. If you want to serve your wine in great condition, then you might also want something known as an Aerator. These devices allow you to pour the wine out and give it room to breathe. The wine is poured into the Aerator, and then flows down a series of tubes, all of which are designed to allow oxygen to reach the wine and give it its full flavour.

For those who are interested in gadgets, there are plenty of wine bar accessories that are a little out of the ordinary. Even something as familiar as a corkscrew can be given an electric twist, or made larger and twisted to create a mounted corkscrew designed to allow you to open a bottle as though you were a professional barkeeper. For those who enjoy the thrill of being able to open their own bottle of wine, then a corkscrew gift set might be perfect, since there are many kits designed to give you everything you need, from the corkscrew itself to wine stoppers. If you want to keep your wine at the perfect temperature before you open it, and want a gadget for that, then you should consider an infra-red wine thermometer which will measure the temperature of all kinds of wine and champagnes without having to open up the bottle.
