Wine storage and bags

Keeping your wine in excellent condition while you are waiting to drink it is a big issue for most wine connoisseurs. Wine needs to be stored in a cool, dry place, preferably in the dark, and it can be difficult to find the right space in modern housing plans, which often emphasise a lack of wine storage space and plenty of sunlight. In order to get the best out of your wine, storing it correctly has to be an important element between buying the wine and drinking it, and if you do not have the opportunity to store the wine bottles in a cellar, then you need to consider other ways to keep your wine fresh.

If you are lucky enough to have an area in your kitchen or living space where wine can be kept at a cool temperature, then you should definitely choose to keep your bottles on wine racks. These racks have been used for hundreds of years, and are the most specialist devices for keeping wine full of flavour and preventing oxidization. Even if you cannot fit in racks, wine shelves are another good option, since they can be fitted into a cupboard or recess. If you have problems finding a cool place to store the wine, then it is a good idea to invest in a wine fridge (or wine chiller). These help keep the wine at the optimum temperature, while also ensuring that it remains in darkness and is unlikely to be contaminated by mould.

Other important elements of wine storage include accessories which will allow you to make sure that your wine is being kept at the right temperature. Thermometers can be found which are specially designed to assess the heat and humidity of an area, which can be essential if you want to keep your wine in good condition. Using effective wine preservation systems for any opened bottles will help you to keep that wine and prevent it from oxidizing.

Wine bottles also need to be transported from place to place, and if you want to make sure that you keep your wine in perfect condition, then you should get a specially-made wine bag. These can be found in one-or-two bottle sizes, and are designed to keep the wine cool while it is being carried. These wine bags are often insulated, and will often have space for glasses to be included in the bag, saving you the trouble of finding a glass when you have reached your destination.

For those who want to carry more than one bottle of wine at a time, you will be looking for wine bags that have padded compartments, as well as insulation around the outside. These compartments will allow you to separate the bottles letting you carry them around without worrying about the glass bottle knocking together. If you intend to carry a number of bottles at once, it might be an idea to purchase a wheeled version, or one with a substantial carrying strap.
